About Seven Churches
The birthplace of this golden liquid is Clonmacnoise. The ruins of this ancient city of seven churches
remain in the heart of Ireland, along the River Shannon. Between 500-1500 AD, the monks of
Clonmacnoise went on quests far and wide for new knowledge and skills. While in Arabia they learnt the
art of distillation. These adventurous holy men returned to Ireland they mastered the distillation of grain
and water, creating ‘uisce beatha’, the Irish for whiskey, meaning ‘water of life’. The earliest known
record of whiskey, was found in the Annals of Clonmacnoise dating back to 1405. Today, Seven Churches
continues to keep the spirit of Clonmacnoise alive with this premium Irish Whiskey.
Using the original recipe of ‘gráin agus uisce’ (Irish for ‘grain and water’), only the finest whiskey
distillates have been hand-selected to perfect our single grain triple distilled Irish whiskey. , matured in
Kentucky bourbon casks.
